Build
We build things that work in production, not demos that impress in a meeting. That means real error handling, real load behaviour and real documentation.

Who we are
Plenty of people will build you a website. Fewer will sit down, understand what's actually broken in your business, and build the system that fixes it. That second job is the one we're here for.
Our story
Why do so many businesses pay for software they don't use, don't understand, and can't change without calling someone?
We kept seeing the same pattern: a business has a real operational problem, buys a template or an off-the-shelf tool because it's cheaper on paper, and then spends the next two years working around it. The software was the wrong shape from the start.
Blackcipher exists to do the harder, more useful thing: understand the problem first, then build the smallest system that genuinely solves it. Sometimes that's a web app. Sometimes it's an internal tool nobody outside the company will ever see. Sometimes — honestly — it's a better process and no software at all.
[EDIT] Add your real founding story here: the year you started, the first client, the problem that made you start.
Mission
Not enterprise software with enterprise invoices. Not a template that half fits. Purpose-built systems, priced honestly, handed over completely.
If a project isn't the right fit, we'll say so and point you somewhere better. That's cheaper for both of us.
Values
Our tagline isn't decoration. Each word is a commitment about how we work.
We build things that work in production, not demos that impress in a meeting. That means real error handling, real load behaviour and real documentation.
The problem comes first and the technology follows. If we don't understand what's actually costing you time or money, we're not ready to write code yet.
An idea that never ships has no value. We deploy, monitor, document and hand over — so the thing we built keeps working when we're not in the room.
Our approach
A website tells people you exist. A solution changes how your business runs. Both matter, but they're different jobs with different measures of success.
So we ask different questions at the start: What breaks if this doesn't exist? Who uses it daily and who only glances at it once a month? What does "working" look like in numbers? What should happen when something goes wrong at 11pm?
The answers decide the architecture — not our favourite framework.
Standards
These aren't premium add-ons. They're part of how we build every project, including the smallest one.
TLS on every environment, HSTS enabled, no mixed content. Certificates renewed automatically.
We collect only what the feature needs, never sell data, and document what's stored in plain language.
Hashed credentials, least-privilege roles, session expiry, and no shared admin logins.
Validated and sanitised on the server, not just in the browser, to close injection and abuse routes.
Every change reviewed and versioned in Git. You get access to the repository from day one.
Scheduled backups with tested restores, plus uptime and error alerting once you're live.
Semantic markup, keyboard navigation, focus states and colour contrast checked before launch.
Targets for load time and page weight, measured on real mobile connections — not just fast office Wi-Fi.
Setup, deployment and everyday-maintenance notes written for your team, not for us.
Team
[EDIT] Add real team members below with photos and roles — or delete this section entirely. Anonymous "teams" undermine trust; a small real one builds it.
